The History of Seattle’s First Black-owned Radio Station

Former KYAC General Manager, Don Dudley interviewed by Seattle Theatre Group's Vivian Phillips at KBCS.

February 15, 2016 - 11:18 am

In 1965, Seattle soul station KYAC went on the air. At the time it was owned by a white man but that would change. Don Dudley eventually took ownership of the station, becoming the first African American to own a radio station in Seattle. Former KYAC radio announcer and now Seattle Theatre Group, Marketing and Communications Director, Vivian Phillips sat down with former KYAC General Manager, Don Dudley at our KBCS studios.
