Aid for the Phillipines

November 13, 2013 - 4:49 pm

Super Typhoon Haiyan (HAI yan) has devastated the Philippines.   It also hits us pretty close to home here at KBCS, as our former News Director, Joaquin Uy, has deep connections to the island country.  He forwarded us this information on ways people can help get needed aid directly to the victims of the disaster:

From Joaquin:

“The U.S.-based organization I have been working with is the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns or NAFCON: http://nafconusa.org/

They are partnered in the Philippines with the National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP) and BALSA (Bulig Alang sa Mindanao or People’s Mobilization for Disaster Response and Climate Justice).

We in the community feel very strongly about supporting these organizations because 100% of collection for relief and rehabilitation goes STRAIGHT to those most affected and most devastated by the typhoon.

BALSA relief efforts are 100% volunteer-driven, as NAFCON is also 100% volunteer-run.”
