It has been my pleasure to be associated with KBCS since 2006 following my relocation to the Northwest.
I’ve always loved music, but I don’t recall, prior to 2006, having a “burning desire” to host a radio program. Enrollment in the basic broadcasting class was a part of my strategy as a “newcomer” to connect with my new community and to make new friends. I scored mightily on both counts!
One of the things I find most rewarding about hosting The Gospel Highway and Womanotes is that instead of just listening to music, I now look forward to delving into the background of the artists and then sharing that information with our listeners. Sometimes, it’s just a bit of interesting trivia. Other times, it’s discovering, for example, the inspiration behind one of Thomas A. Dorsey’s most ubiquitous songs.
A native of the Chicago area, I spent the better part of 34 years in Southern, CA working for Raytheon. I retired in 2002 and live close enough to my son and his family that I get to indulge my other love…..spoiling my grandchildren….Gabe and Maya, 8 and 6, respectively.
