It was created in defiance of the Pacifica Foundation's former Board of Directors and staff who imposed a gag rule and censorship restriction on PNN reporters. Since that time, FSRN has expanded to over 200 journalists who report from 40 states within the U.S. and 57 countries around the world, including Israel/Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Argentina, Mexico and Nigeria. Any journalist may pitch a news story to FSRN and every reporter who produces a story gets paid. FSRN actively recruits and trains people throughout the U.S. and around the world resulting in an ever-expanding and broadened reporter base. TSOYA has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and Time magazine. Speak On It Radio - First Monday of the month 5:30-6 pmLogic Amen, longtime KBCS producer, commentator, and frequent host of Voices of Diversity, will be now be hosting KBCS’s newest locally produced public affairs program, Speak On It Radio. Logic will be connecting hip-hop communities with issues concerning society, pop culture, spirituality and politics—and that’s just the start. The Takeaway - Weekdays 5-8 amHosted by public radio veteran John Hockenberry, The Takeaway delivers national and international news and cultural stories through a conversational and personality-driven format, rather than a magazine format. The web presence of the program strives to be a virtual public square, allowing listeners to respond immediately to news and participate in editorial decision-making, as well as building a significant online community around the content. The Takeaway is a unique partnership of global news leaders. It is a co-production of PRI (Public Radio International) and WNYC Radio in collaboration with the BBC World Service, The New York Times, and WGBH Boston. Listeners can also participate in feedback and the conversation for The Takeaway by joining The Mix. The Mix offers users a way to participate with the program creators and comment on issues and topics of the day. Some listener call-ins are also featured on the broadcast. Voices of Diversity - Wednesday 5-6 pmVoices of Diversity tells the untold stories in our community and celebrates the diversity of cultural expression found in the Northwest. The program is a collaboration between KBCS and the City of Bellevue Cultural Diversity Program. The show comes to you each week thanks to a dedicated team of volunteer reporters and producers from across King County. A different volunteer hosts Voices of Diversity each week. Voices of Diversity seeks to literally give voice to those not often heard on the airwaves, and to that end, trains community members in radio skills and independent journalism.
