Brian Allen

Brian Allen is originally from the Midwest, and currently lives in Seattle in a Homestead Community Land Trust home, which he is working on renovating into a model of green building techniques and energy self-sufficiency. He plans to build the first rammed earth foundation in Seattle, and is currently managing the startup of a cooperative incubator dedicated to bringing together progressive community-based economists and technologists in the food, building, energy, transportation, and communications sectors. He has volunteered at community and micro-radio stations in Milwaukee, Madison and Los Angeles and enjoys building AM and FM transmitters.
Logic Amen
One World Report Commentator Speak On It Radio Host Logic Amen is an educator, artist, and activist. is a graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in English Literature. Logic is active in the hip-hop community with several albums and writings soon to be published and distributed.
Benjamin Ernst

One World Report Production Team Leader Benjamin Ernst recently returned to Seattle from Bellingham where he co-hosted and produced "The Planet Earth" on 89.3 KUGS. His experience with digital video production led him to appreciate the elegant simplicity and power of radio to convey stories. His passions include media democratization, bicycling, and fermentation.
Kevin P. Henry

Voices of Diversity Production Team Kevin P. Henry has been in journalism and broadcasting for over 20 years, beginning as a freelancer while still in college in the early 80s. He use to review concerts, but realized that he was suffering from burnout when he fell asleep at a Prince concert in 1986. Kevin originally hails from Los Angeles, and is currently the Program Coordinator for the City of Bellevue Cultural Diversity Program. He began the "concept" of Voices of Diversity 10 years ago and is very happy it has found a home at KBCS-FM and is being driven by a great group of volunteers. Kevin's hobbies include drinking coffee, listening to a lot of talk radio and napping. Dislikes include racism, traffic and drooling in public.
Yuko Kodama

Yuko couldn't go to sleep at night unless she listened to radio when she was growing up in Utah. She later found herself producing weekday segments for a number of radio stations in Japan, including J-Wave Radio, FM Yokohama, and ZIP FM. Yuko loves that radio is a medium which encourages the listener to use their imagination to participate in stories and art. She also loves the possibilities that radio has to offer in informing and connecting people. Yuko's other passions are sea kayaking, cooking and lots of other outdoor hobbies (especially if they involve foraging for food).
Laura Kramer

Laura Kramer moved to the Northwest from Chicago IL, shedding her winter overcoats and her big-city anonymity, in hopes of becoming a more effective and engaged citizen. Her interests in community radio made her a near compulsive listener, a regular donor, and a producer wanna-be. Her education has been in social justice and psychology, and she has worked with low-income women and families, immigrant families, and previously homeless adults since getting her BA. She is now earning her MA in Psychology, with every intention of being a full time therapist, and a full time public affairs producer and host.
Peter Marshall

Peter Marshall came to KBCS after several years as producer of a public affairs series and commentary at KSER. At KBCS, he continues his interest in information technology issues, what he calls "technopolitics," also the focus of his Internet mail-list. Peter's done college English teaching, freelance journalism and opposition research for political campaigns, among other things.

Georgia S. McDade has volunteered for three years. She is a correspondent for One World Report and Voices of Diversity. She loves participating in a medium which has space for the famous and the not-so-famous, especially those who contribute to making the world a better place.
Dave Pippin

Dave Pippin has loved radio ever since he was a kid. In Upstate New York he got all worked up when he could pick up broadcasts late in the evening from cities as far away as Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Chicago. Now that he's figured out how to play his laptop through his wi-fi, he's positively overwhelmed with choices. After taking a course in audio production in the fall of 2006, he found a home in KBCS's Public Affairs Department and on the Cart Crew. When not in the studio, he teaches English and boatbuilding at Billings Middle School.
Mark Taylor-Canfield

Mark Taylor-Canfield is an activist, musician and journalist living in Seattle. He is a freelance reporter for Free Speech Radio News and writes for various websites and magazines. He’s a founding member of the Committee For Government Accountability, a public interest watchdog group dedicated to the protection of First Amendment rights. Mark is also a member of the board of directors for the Northwest CyberArtists and the “Weapons of Mass Distraction Project”, a multi-media culture jamming group. He performs with the sci-fi techno-funk band “The Galaxy Machine”.
Havens Tipps

After Havens retired, he took Bellevue Community College/KBCS classes in broadcasting and audio production. He now volunteers at KBCS often as an audio editor and has also produced. After graduate school at the University of Oregon, his work-life included being a professor of sociology at the University of Cincinnati, a decade doing research at the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights in Washington D.C., and many years as a computer specialist/network administrator/programmer. He skis a lot, is trying to learn Spanish, and loves movies, radio, and lots of other things.
Rebecca Wirtel

Rebecca Wirtel hails from a small town outside of Detroit, MI. She graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a Psychology degree in '94. For over 15 years, Rebecca worked with the chronically mental ill and homeless in involuntary commitment centers, transitional housing and homeless shelters. Utilizing her community radio station she has volunteered at KBCS for One World Report for 10 months where she is studying journalism and the radio production process. In her spare time she studies neuro linguistics, the karma sutra and has a great passion for cooking.
